A SPECTRUM OF CULTURE
Add a splash of color to your day when you visit ArtHaus located at 3840 Ridgewood Avenue, Port Orange. ArtHaus provides lectures, workshops, exhibits and demonstrations in the schools and throughout the community. Enjoy an online exhibition or check out the art curriculum at www.arthaus.org. The ArtHaus Foundation is made up of volunteers and benefactors from all walks of life and unites artists, teachers, students and patrons.

HISTORICAL & NATURAL DISCOVERIES
Adjacent to City Hall, the Kenneth W. Parker Outdoor Performing Arts Amphitheater is the site of numerous concerts and other performances throughout the year. You'll find over fifty different attractions at Sugar Mill Botanical Gardens on Old Sugar Mill Road. Butterfly and xeriscape gardens, a horticultural reference library and gift shop, life size concrete replicas of dinosaurs, a human sundial and plenty of other points of interest reside on the premises. History buffs will be interested in the sugar mill ruins and original artifacts from that industry.

MUSEUMS
Located within minutes of Daytona Beach, South Daytona offers proximity to the Museum of Arts and Sciences, and the Halifax Historical Museum. The Ponce Inlet Lighthouse & Museum, and the Marine Science Center in Ponce Inlet and the Atlantic Center for the Arts and Marine Discovery Center in New Smyrna Beach are also close by.

FUN FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY
Arctic Zone Ice Rink, a state-of-the-art facility in South Daytona features a NHL size ice surface and seats about 400 spectators. It hosts skating classes, a figure skating club, recreational skating, games and other skating events. Port Orange Family Days One of the largest annual events in Volusia is held in October. This four-day festival which takes place at the City Center Complex focuses on celebration of family and quality of life in Port Orange and features a carnival, business and non-profit expo, children's games, parade, food court and entertainment.

TRANSPORTATION
South Daytona is located at the east end of Interstate 4, and Port Orange, South Daytona and Daytona Beach Shores have direct access to Interstate 95. The Daytona Beach International Airport is within 10 minutes. Click here to visit the Daytona Beach International Airport website

MOTOR VEHICLE INFORMATION
The Motor Vehicle Department, County License and Registration office, suggests that newcomers register their motor vehicles as soon as they arrive in town. You must register your vehicle before you apply for a Florida Driver's License. You only have 10 days to register your vehicle after you enroll your children in school, get a job, register to vote or file for the Homestead Exemption. Registration, tag, decal and title transfer costs approximately $185.00, and you will need to show a driver's license and proof of automobile insurance. You will need to bring your current driver's license, car registration, Social Security card, birth certificate or passport to the Driver's License office to be issued a Florida license. Those with a valid license from another state, need only take a vision test. The cost is $20 for six years. License renewal is $15 and replacement cost is $10.

HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION
Florida allows a $25,000 Homestead Exemption off the assessed value of your residence. You must own and occupy the property by January 1 and be a permanent resident in the state of Florida to qualify for the exemption. The filing deadline for Homestead Exemption is March 1 of each year. For further information, call the:

VOTER REGISTRATION
Voter Registration application Applications are available at local Chambers of Commerce and area banks. After completing the card, it must be mailed to the Volusia County Supervisor of Elections, 136 North Florida Ave. DeLand, FL 32720. You will receive your card in the mail in about 3 weeks.
